However, with the effective control of the COVID epidemic in China, the situation continued to improve in the second half of the year, and the industry began to recover in the third quarter, with the decline rate of various indicators becoming narrower; however, the overseas epidemic is still spreading, seriously affecting the export of products. From the perspective of the downstream industry, the overall production supply of steel, coal, automobile and construction machinery industries tends to be stable, the market supply and demand improve in both directions, the prosperity index rises gradually, and the market environment of rubber hose and belt has improved.

According to Li Hong, Secretary General of Rubber Hose & Belt Branch of China Rubber Industry Association, affected by the epidemic situation in 2020, most enterprises basically did not produce in February and early March, and their economic benefits declined. According to the statistics of 50 major enterprises, the industry's sales revenue in the first quarter dropped nearly 30% year on year (the same below); the decline trend in the second quarter was curbed to a certain extent, and the sales revenue in the first half of the year dropped nearly 10%. In the third quarter, there was a certain degree of recovery growth, and the sales revenue in the first three quarters decreased by 1.86%; in the fourth quarter, the recovery growth was maintained, and the annual sales revenue in 2020 decreased by 1.58%. Driven by the extraordinary development of several listed enterprises, the total profit of this industry increased slightly in the first three quarters, but the production and operation of most enterprises are not optimistic.

According to the statistics of Rubber Hose & Belt Branch, in 2020, the total industrial output value of 45 key enterprises decreased by 3.63% and the sales revenue decreased by 1.58%; the output of main product - conveyor belt dropped by 22.0%, while the output of V-belt increased by 2.26%, and the output of rubber hose dropped by 6.94%; the delivery value of export decreased by 3.90%, the export rate (value) decreased by 10.53%, while the tax increased by 5.66%, and the profit slightly increased by 0.13%, the profit margin of sales revenue was 7.83%, an increase of 0.13 percentage points; there were three loss making enterprises with a loss of 59.07 million yuan; the inventory of finished products increased by 31.28%.

According to the statistics of Rubber Hose & Belt Branch, in the first three quarters of 2020, the total industrial output value of 106 CRIA member enterprises decreased by 3.92%, of which the output value of rubber hose and belt decreased by 7.43%, the output value of industrial sales decreased by 4.15%, and the sales revenue of products decreased by 2.85%. The output of leading product - conveyor belt decreased by 10.11%, among which steel-cord conveyor belt decreased by 10.12%, light-type conveyor belt increased by 62.94%; the output of rubber hose increased by 4.98%, among which steel wire reinforced rubber hose increased by 19.91%, automobile special rubber hose decreased by 8.92%; the output of rubber shoes increased by 5.30%; V-belt decreased by 2.16%, among which fabric reinforced V-belt decreased by 7.03%, automobile special V-belt increased by 2.69%. The export delivery value of hose and belt products decreased by 8.89%, the export volume of conveyor belt decreased by 8.63%, the export volume of rubber hose decreased by 8.10%, and the export volume of V-belt decreased by 1.72%. Total profits increased by 2.44% and total taxes decreased by 0.31%. There were 13 loss making enterprises, 4 more than that in the same period of last year, and the loss decreased by 16.7216 million yuan.
